EADaily, 1 September 2026. The number of deaths in Nepal as a result of the landslide in the north of the country rose to 974, reporting on Tuesday to Central Television of China with reference to Nepal Police.
The flood struck northern Nepal on the morning of 26 August, after a strong flow of water from the Chinese side poured into the Bhote-Koshi River, a flood that occurred after the earthquake and the ensuing landslides.
Following the tragedy, a military blogger on Weibo revealed that the Gyirong Port has approximately 220 permanent staff, plus dispatched workers, logistics personnel, and market maintenance staff, bringing the total number of staff on duty to 260-300.
