Xiaomi Launches Upgraded SU7 Sedan with 902 km Range and Standard LiDAR
The SU7 Pro offers a 902 km range and standard LiDAR in all trims, priced below Tesla Model 3, with over 89,000 pre-orders in 24 hours, Xiaomi aims to boost 2026 deliveries.
- On Thursday, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun officially launched the next-generation SU7 electric sedan in Beijing, starting at 219,900 yuan with standard LiDAR across all trims and an 897V charging architecture on the top model.
- Upgrades across the series include the V6s Plus motor, bumping single-motor trims from 299 hp to 320 hp, and a 902 km CLTC range for the Pro model. The body structure now uses 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel in critical areas.
- Starting at 229,900 yuan, the base model undercuts the Tesla Model 3 in China by about 5,600 yuan despite a price increase of 10,000-14,000 yuan over the outgoing model. Xiaomi targets over 16,000 units in March production alone.
- Citibank described the pricing as fair, suggesting the model's mature monthly run-rate could return to 270,000 units. Citi analyst Kyna Wong said the sedan will "marginally take" market share from the Tesla Model 3, Zeekr 007, and Xpeng P7.
- With over 360,000 deliveries in roughly 21 months, Xiaomi is now targeting 550,000 EV deliveries in 2026 to capitalize on the refresh and widen its competitive lead. The SU7 is already the best-selling sedan above 200,000 yuan in China.
