Workers have a say on digital rules through collective bargaining

A nationwide initiative led by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions implements collective bargaining to allow platform workers to negotiate algorithms managing their work rules.
Fifteen out of 16 major platform companies have completed negotiations, benefiting over 20 million workers with agreements on wages and working conditions.
The first platform algorithm and labor rules agreement was established in April 2025 between Ele.me and delivery riders, benefiting over 4 million workers.
Trade unions aim to enhance algorithmic transparency and strengthen protections for workers, ensuring rights and harmonious labor relations in new employment sectors.
