Two Days WFH, Metro Mondays Delhi Govt Among Measures After PM’s Appeal
Government staff will work from home two days a week as ministers and officers shift to the metro and private firms are urged to follow suit.
On Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced several austerity measures for government officials and the general public, including work-from-home policies and transit changes.
To reduce traffic congestion, Delhi implemented new office timings of 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for government staff, while allowing two days of weekly work-from-home.
Ministers and senior officers will use the metro where possible, with Every Monday designated as Metro Day to encourage public transit use among leadership.
The government aims for 50% of meetings to occur online, while coordinating with Universities to move non-practical classes and administrative meetings to virtual formats.
Starting tomorrow, Delhi officials face a one-year ban on foreign visits; the government will also avoid large public events and conferences for three months.
