Ireland Thrash Scotland 54-5 in Women's Six Nations to Finish Third
Ireland scored seven first-half tries and finished third, while Scotland managed a late consolation in the first standalone women’s Test at Aviva Stadium.
On Sunday, Ireland defeated Scotland 54-5 in the first-ever standalone women's Test at Aviva Stadium before a record crowd of 31,294, securing third place in the Women's Six Nations Championship.
Ireland overwhelmed the Scots in a remarkable first half, scoring seven tries to lead 47-0 at the break, with captain Erin King, Brittany Hogan, and Aoife Wafer among the try scorers.
Fly-Half Dannah O'Brien landed six conversions while Wafer crossed twice, and Ireland coach Scott Bemand told the BBC the performance was 'the best version of us and we were excellent.'
Scotland captain Helen Nelson said her side were 'bitterly disappointed' with their first-half performance, while Aicha Sutcliffe scored a late consolation try with 85 minutes on the clock.
Ireland finished the Championship with three wins, and coach Bemand said 'next year we want to get closer to England and France' as the team aims to build on their success.
