Amsterdam Hockey Players Win National Title After Impressive Comeback Against Kampong
Amsterdam performed a genuine ‘remontada’ in its own Wagener Stadium. Rick Mathijssen’s team seemed to have no chance of winning the title after a 4-3 defeat in Kampong and a 1-0 deficit in the return match, but managed to pull things right after the break (2-1) and then via shoot-outs (6-5). Goalkeeper Olivier Paalman, who was brought in especially for the shoot-outs, was Amsterdam’s great hero.
