Woman sentenced over threats to kill Angela Rayner
Elizabeth Harker received an 18-month community order and five-year restraining orders after sending abusive voicemails and a threatening note, with alcohol misuse cited as a factor.
On Tuesday, 63-year-old Elizabeth Harker received an 18-month community order at Westminster Magistrates for sending threatening voicemails to Angela Rayner and harassing Dorris Fortune.
Harker, of Luton, pleaded guilty to sending grossly offensive communications while intoxicated, including four abusive voicemails to Rayner and a handwritten note filled with slurs to Fortune.
Rayner described threats to kill her and her son as causing "great stress and anxiety," while Fortune stated she felt "very distressed" after receiving a note containing derogatory slurs.
District Judge Briony Clarke imposed a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement, 200 hours of unpaid work, and a 12-month alcohol treatment programme, alongside five-year restraining orders banning Harker from contacting both victims.
Remarking it was "quite remarkable" for a 63-year-old with no prior convictions to act this way, Judge Briony Clarke noted Harker's remorse and her recent participation in Alcoholics Anonymous.
