In Azamgarh, a married woman jumped into the Tamsa River with her three-month-old son. Seeing the woman drowning, nearby villagers launched a rescue operation. The woman was safely pulled from the river near Panshabdha village, about 2 to 3 kilometers away. The child drowned, however. The woman has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
