WMNF to begin prescribed fires

CAMPTON — White Mountain National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations in mid-April as weather conditions allow. Prescribed fires help reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.

Smoke and flames may be visible in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park Friday through April 25 thanks to controlled burning, according to a Pike-San Isabel National Forests and Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands social media post.
