After the approval of the reform of the Glaciares Law, the President’s Office issued a statement in which it celebrated the half sanction of the project that “supposes a true environmental federalism.” The document says “ideological distortions” and “artificial works” prevented progress. It further affirms: “The age of environmentalists under a false noble slogan and blocking the progress of Argentines is coming to an end.”
The initiative, which reduces protected areas and empowers mining investments, was approved by 40 votes in favour and 31 against. It will now pass to the Chamber of Deputies for final vote.

The president said that the law came out of a "historical claim" of the mining provinces. He celebrated with a "3-0" when he added the approval of the Mercosur-European Union agreement and the statement of Fernando Iglesias as ambassador to Belgium. Read more
