David Crowley linked to social media account that made crude comments
The campaign says 10 to 12 people had access to the account and denies Crowley wrote the offensive posts.
- Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley disavowed a 16-year social media account Wednesday after NBC News reported the page, known as "Dirt McGirk," contained racist, sexist, and homophobic posts.
- The account, created more than a decade and a half ago to promote a bar and social club, featured offensive content dating to 2010; Crowley claims he was one of 10-12 people with access.
- Rayhainio Boynes, who also had access to the account, confirmed Crowley did not write the offensive messages. Crowley emphasized he only posted about his paternity history on the page.
- The resurfaced posts emerge as new polling shows Democratic socialist Francesca Hong leading Wisconsin's Democratic gubernatorial primary for the fourth time, while Crowley relaunched his bid after previously dropping out.
- Marquette University Law School plans to release new primary polling next week ahead of the Aug. 11 primary election, providing updated snapshots of the Democratic field.
