New jobs pathway to help prevent homelessness in BCP

  • Prince William's Homewards scheme, launched in 2023 to prevent and end homelessness, is rolling out a new employment pathway in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.
  • The initiative builds upon the existing partnership between Hays and EveryYouth through Project Flourish, a youth employability program for 16 to 25-year-olds at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
  • Hays, a crucial partner, will provide employment and training opportunities and share data-driven insights to tackle employment barriers for those experiencing homelessness, while the Royal Foundation has made 31 properties available in Aberdeen.
  • Pim Gregory, the executive director for homelessness at the Royal Foundation, stated that ending homelessness requires more than just homes, highlighting the importance of training and employment pathways, and Prince William noted that continuous rejection when seeking employment can be demoralizing.
  • The Homewards project, operating in six key locations including Aberdeen, Belfast, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Lambeth, Newport and Sheffield, aims to develop a blueprint for eradicating homelessness by providing bespoke solutions, with Invisible Cities Aberdeen offering walking tours led by people with lived experience of homelessness as one example.
