Now, clinical trials have shown that a non-drilling method can effectively control tooth decay in children, and the procedure only takes a few seconds. This is undoubtedly good news for the many children suffering from tooth decay.
Tooth decay is a disease in which teeth are dissolved by bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans, resulting in loss of tissue or the formation of holes. While treating tooth decay sometimes involves drilling away the affected area, a clinical trial was conducted in the United States for a drug that "stops the progression of tooth decay simply by applying it to the tooth without drilling."
In a study of 830 children, silver diamine fluoride stopped the development of caries in 54 percent of cases after a single application. The procedure lasts about 10 seconds and does not require drilling tsn.ua (news 1+1)
