I had to think back to Jolande Sap's attempt to embarrass Geert Wilders thirteen years ago by bringing a power strip to the plenary debate and showing him: 'That's how you do it, Mr Wilders.' His reaction? 'Well, I don't think Mrs Sap ever pulled the plug.' But now he's pulling the plug on the cabinet himself.

Few will mourn the fall of the Dutch government, which was mainly a cabinet of curiosities that did little good. Elections should bring relief. 'The country now needs clarity and a strong cabinet.'
