Where Can Russian Athletes Compete After the IOC’s Provisional Ban Lift?
Russia’s return to international sports competition was already well underway long before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) provisionally lifted its ban on the Russian and Belarusian Olympic Committees this July.
Belarusian Biathlonists can stay in this season without major international competitions. The Congress of the International Biathlonist Union (IBU) has not considered returning Belarusians to international competition: it was not on the agenda published a month ago, nor was there any proposals to add this question at the congress itself.
From 2022, athletes from Russia and Belarus are suspended from international biathlon competitions
The Congress of the International Biathlonist Union did not consider returning Russian and Belarusian athletes to international launches, as reported by the head of the Press Service of the Russian Biathlonist Union, Sergei Averyanov, and the IBU Congress is held in German Berchtesgaden from 17 to 20 September.
The suspension was still in effect.
