Roanoke County Resident Puts His Stamp on 'Field of Dreams' Ballpark
Costner’s two-minute narration framed baseball as a multigenerational story before 26 Hall of Famers emerged from the corn.
On Thursday, actor Kevin Costner narrated a cinematic opening video for the "Field of Dreams" game between the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies in Dyersville, Iowa.
Murray Cook, field consultant for Major League Baseball, oversaw construction at the site adjacent to the 1989 film's farmhouse, surrounded by more than 100 acres of corn.
Costner's narration wove "story after story" from Babe Ruth to Jackie Robinson, while 26 Hall of Famers including Goose Gossage and Cal Ripken emerged from the cornstalks.
The video aimed to "remind us what baseball can make us feel, how deeply it can bring us together and why it's still worth believing in," Costner said.
Major League Baseball launched the Field of Dreams series in 2021, and this 2026 edition marks the event's return after a three-year hiatus.
