Wexners out as Ohio’s wealthiest family, according to latest Forbes report
Denise York and her family are now the wealthiest Ohioans, surpassing New Albany retail billionaire Les Wexner in the 2026 Forbes 400 ranking of America's richest residents.
Forbes estimates the York family fortune at $10 billion, driven by NFL franchise ownership, while Wexner's net worth remained unchanged at $9.3 billion over the past year.
The York family owns more than 90% of the NFL franchise, valued at more than $8 billion, and completed a takeover of English soccer club Leeds United in 2023.
Wexner, who founded The Limited in 1963, built a retail empire including Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Express before stepping down as CEO in 2020.
Four Ohio residents and families made the 2026 Forbes list, with estimates representing a snapshot of wealth as of Sept. 4, 2026.
