West Springfield middle school resource officer position goes vacant, amid staffing shortages

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Some West Springfield residents are voicing concern over the elimination of the school resource officer position at West Springfield Middle School.It is unlikely the post will be filled this fall, due to staffing issues with the Police Department, according to Mayor William Reichelt, but an officer could be later restored to the school.
