Bypoll to Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha Seat Vacated by L Murugan on November 12: Election Commission
The Election Commission announced on Thursday that the Rajya Sabha bypoll for the Madhya Pradesh seat vacated by Union Minister Murugan will take place on November 12.
Murugan resigned from the Council of Ministers and his Rajya Sabha seat on October 13 to focus on strengthening the BJP in Tamil Nadu, aiming to return to the grassroots.
Nominations will be accepted from October 26 to November 2, with scrutiny set for November 3 and withdrawals by November 5; polling occurs November 12 from 9 am to 4 pm.
With the BJP ruling Madhya Pradesh, its candidate is expected to secure the seat, maintaining the party's presence in the State and ensuring legislative advantage.
The bypoll is expected to help the NDA retain its Rajya Sabha strength at a time when Parliament prepares to introduce key Bills, ensuring the coalition maintains legislative capacity.
