Heavy hail showers turned some parts of Saxony and Thuringia white on Monday afternoon. Initially, a thunderstorm with hail had unloaded south of Jena, with around 21 liters per square meter of precipitation being recorded within one hour, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Monday in Leipzig on request. The thunderstorm then continued across the northern Vogtland and the Ore Mountains.
