TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) - Officials have confirmed a minor earthquake was detected in western North Carolina late Friday night. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded about 9 kilometers west of the town of Rossman at around 11:23 p.m. Due to its intensity, the earthquake was unlikely to be felt by most outside of the direct area, and no damage is expected to have resulted from it.
