The colorful LGBT+ community march "Kaunas Pride" has begun on Kaunas Laisvės Avenue. It aims to draw attention to the rights of LGBT+ people in Lithuania. "We were, are and will be part of Lithuania's history and future, in big cities, towns, and villages. Therefore, we demand what should be taken for granted - respect, recognition, visibility, protection, and appropriate, accessible healthcare services for all," say the organizers.
The Kaunas Pride march will take place in Kaunas on Saturday, during which participants, marching along Laisvės Alley, will seek to support freedom of expression and oppose hatred and discrimination.
Film director, screenwriter, and producer Romas Zabarauskas publicly criticized both this year's Kaunas Pride and LT Pride, stating that he believes that the decisions of the event organizers are already harming the aspiration for equality for LGBTQ+ people.
The Kaunas Pride march in Kaunas was not without incidents.
