‘We may not have known her potential’ – mother says daughter with Down syndrome was given inaccurate school assessment

The mother of a young woman with Down syndrome has criticised the assessments of her daughter during her time in school, and has called for more relevant and flexible testing of children with intellectual disabilities.

For many parents, Diagnosis Down syndrome is a shock. Claudia Weinand from the Eifel realized that she was getting her daughter. Now she advises other parents on Trisomie 21.
