He then proudly served four years in the Air Force. A patriot at heart, Wayne flew the American flag every day and always took it down every night. He worked for 36 years at Penn Power as a line and meter man until his retirement. Faith was the most important part of Wayne’s life. He was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church. He loved to work in his yard and drive his John Deere Tractor. Wayne was a jokester who loved teasing his friends and family. He was a kind man who was happy with his life. He enjoyed baking, especially brownies, and always shared them with everyone.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years Linda Kennedy Dean; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Thayer of Alexandria, VA; son, Kenneth Hawk of Ellwood City; grandson, Braden Hawk; sister, Helen Vanderveen of Hermitage, and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Lechner and Esther Wilson. Friends and family will be received on Monday October 12, 2026, from 4 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City, PA 16117. Friends and family will also be received on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 10 until the funeral service at 11 am at the Harmony Baptist Church, 4103 Ellwood Rd. New Castle, PA 16101. Military Rites will be observed. Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church.
