SPOKANE, Wash. - The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is urging visitors to celebrate the Fourth of July responsibly on state parks and beaches. The commission emphasizes the importance of reducing trash to protect the environment and wildlife. Last year, volunteers collected more than 129,000 pounds of trash from Washington beaches on July 5.
