As Donald Trump's ultimatum to Iranians came to an end, the United States and the Islamic Republic agreed to a two-week suspension of hostilities on the evening of Tuesday, April 7. In exchange for a halt to the Israeli-American bombing of Iran, Tehran agreed to reopen the Strait of Ormuz and announced discussions between the two sides in Islamabad, as confirmed by Pakistan.
Diplomatic efforts progressed and "could lead to substantial results in the near future".
