On the eve of last Sunday’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) national congress, powerful lawmaker and one of the leaders of the Taiwan Forward (湧言會, often referred to as Ocean Faction, 海派) faction, Wang Ting-yu (王定宇), abruptly withdrew his candidacy to win re-election to the DPP’s 10-member Centra
DPP legislator and president of the Taiwan-US Congressional Friendship Association, Wang Ting-yu, recently embarked on a visit to the United States. His first stop was Los Angeles, where he met with the overseas Chinese community in Southern California and visited local officials. He will then travel to Washington, D.C., to carry out a series of congressional diplomatic activities.
