- Walmart, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, is expanding its fuel station business this year, with over 45 new or revamped locations set to increase its U.S. Gas station count to over 450 across 34 states.
- Walmart aims to enhance customer convenience by offering competitively priced gas and the same low prices on snacks and beverages found inside Walmart stores at their fuel stations, which are accessible to both members and non-members.
- To further enhance convenience, Walmart provides savings of up to 10 cents per gallon for Walmart+ subscribers, while the Anywhere Visa Card by Citi offers 5% cash back on fuel purchases at the retailer's gas stations.
- In a move to compete with rivals like Costco, Walmart's Sam's Club extended gas station hours at 90% of its locations with fuel, generally opening at 6 a.m. And closing an hour later, according to a Sam's Club spokesperson.
- Costco, with CEO Ron Vachris, also extended gas station hours in its second quarter to generally 6 a.m. To 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, as detailed in a Facebook post last month, with Vachris stating on March 6 that 60 U.S. Gas stations are in expansion phases.
