- On Tuesday, the ACLU of Missouri filed in Cole County Circuit Court asking a judge to halt use of Missouri's new congressional maps until voters can weigh in.
- On Dec. 9, People Not Politicians submitted more than 305,000 signatures to Denny Hoskins, Secretary of State, seeking a public vote, but certification is pending verification.
- The lawsuit asks the court to suspend House Bill 1, naming Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway and Secretary of State Denny Hoskins as defendants, claiming the state violated voters’ rights by pushing the maps without input.
- Until certification, the Missouri FIRST Map remains in effect as Denny Hoskins, Secretary of State, has until July 2026 to certify signatures and candidates file beginning Feb. 24, 2026.
- The Missouri General Assembly approved the map on Sept. 12, 2025, and by Sept. 15 multiple lawsuits and a referendum petition had been filed, including one noting a southeast Kansas City Voter Tabulation District in both Districts 4 and 5.
