Volvo Cars Recalls over 413,000 US Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Issue
Volvo will fix a software defect affecting rearview cameras in all 413,000 recalled U.S. vehicles with a free update expected by Q1 2026, NHTSA said.
- Dec. 23, 2025, Volvo Car USA issued a recall for about 413,151 U.S. vehicles under R10333 due to rearview camera software issues, according to NHTSA.
- After customer complaints in July 2025, Volvo's investigation found the latest recall stems from an additional software issue causing the screen to show `Camera is temporarily not available`.
- Affected models include 2021–2025 VOLVO XC60 , VOLVO XC90 , and VOLVO XC40 , and Volvo dealers will install a free software update.
- Owner notification letters will be mailed out by Feb. 16, as the defect violates a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, with no injuries reported as of Dec. 23, 2025.
- Volvo is preparing the software update now and expects it to roll out in the coming weeks, with release targeted by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
