Volcanic activity on Iceland slows down

Since midnight, about six hundred tremors have been recorded in the tunnel of the Reykjanes peninsula. For the eleventh time in about four years, the Reykjanes Peninsula near Reykjavik is experiencing a volcanic eruption. Shortly after the eruption, the situation looks more relaxed again.

In Iceland, a volcano broke out near the capital Reykjavik. "Attention: An outbreak has begun," the weather authority reported. So far, however, there have been no major ash clouds that have disrupted air traffic.
