Visitors go off Byron Bay, and the tourism sector suspects overexposure

Summary by Ground News
Destination North Coast general manager Michael Thurston said the number of daytrippers heading to the town was down by nearly half a million in 2022. He said overnight stays by domestic visitors were down by 300,000 and international visitors had also slumped by 166,000. The decline in visitor numbers has taken a toll on businesses in the town.
