British Book Awards: Virginia Giuffre’s Memoir Wins Top Book Prize
The memoir also won Non-Fiction Narrative Book of the Year, with judges praising its account of alleged trafficking and abuse.
On Monday, the British Book Awards named Nobody's Girl, a posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre and Amy Wallace, Book of the Year at a ceremony in London.
Published six months after Giuffre died by suicide last year, the memoir details her encounters with late financier Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, including allegations involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Chair Alice O'Keeffe said judges 'championed' the memoir for its 'extraordinary courage and determination,' while Giuffre's sister-in-law Amanda Roberts called it 'a true testament to what a survivor's voice can do.'
The win reflects the book's power to uphold a legacy amid recent Epstein files revelations, while the ceremony also honored American author Suzanne Collins for her Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise On The Reaping.
Giuffre and Sarah Wynn-Williams jointly received the Freedom to Publish award, while the ceremony commemorated late authors Dame Jilly Cooper, Joanna Trollope, and Sophie Kinsella with special posthumous recognitions.
