Victoria artist's new record label to preserve 150 years of B.C. fiddle music

Renowned Victoria-based violinist and educator Daniel Lapp established Woodbox Records and is releasing a new fiddle album on May 31, 2025.
Lapp created the label to celebrate, promote, and preserve British Columbia's 150-year history of fiddle music based on his two decades of collecting 3,000 tunes.
The album is Lapp's first fiddle release in over 20 years and will debut at a concert at Alix Goolden Performance Hall in downtown Victoria.
Lapp announced that the label has secured a global distribution agreement, and its albums will shortly be available both digitally and in retail outlets across Germany, Dublin, Montreal, and New York.
Woodbox Records aims to sustain B.C.'s fiddle legacy globally, and Lapp described the launch event as the "party of parties.
