METROPOLITAN CITY OF VENICE, VENETO, JUL 18 – The juries will award prestigious prizes including the Golden Lion and a $100,000 prize for best first work, with a diverse international panel of filmmakers and artists.
- On July 22, the Venice Film Festival unveiled its competition jury, featuring Fernanda Torres and Mohammad Rasoulof and tasked with selecting the Golden Lion.
- The jury presidency goes to Alexander Payne, having only once before screened a competition film with Downsizing in 2017.
- On Friday, the Board of Directors accepted Alberto Barbera's recommendations, including Stéphane Brizé, Maura Delpero, Cristian Mungiu and Zhao Tao, as jury members.
- Meanwhile, French director Julia Ducournau presides over the Horizons section, and Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells heads the Luigi De Laurentiis Award jury worth $100,000.
- Running from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6, the 82nd Venice Film Festival will see the competition jury award the Golden Lion, Silver Lions, Coppa Volpi prizes and more.
