Vehicle fire near Concord shuts down lanes on Kirker Pass Road

(KRON) -- A fire broke out Monday afternoon on Kirker Pass Road near Pittsburg and Concord, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). As of 3 p.m., all northbound and southbound lanes are currently blocked on Kirker Pass Road. A vehicle fire has now extended to roadside vegetation, on Kirker Pass Rd just south of the Pittsburg city limits. This is being dispatched as a full wildland fire response. Northbound traffic is being shut down. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes. Update: Forward progress has been stopped and the fire is close to containment.
