Swedish utility Vattenfall has greenlit construction of the Nordlicht 1 and 2 wind farms off the northern coast of Germany. Together the two projects will become the country’s largest off-shore wind park. With construction to begin in 2026 the project is expected to be operational by 2028.

Vattenfall reaches FID for 1.6GW Nordlicht wind cluster in Germany

Swedish energy firm Vattenfall has reached the final investment decision (FID) for its Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind farms.

Energy supplier Vattenfall “fundamentally disagrees” with the ruling of the court in Amsterdam, which ruled that the so-called price change clause in a variable energy contract is unfair. “We will study the ruling and consider next steps,” says a spokesperson.
