Vasseur calls for Ferrari unity: Pointing fingers would be "big mistake"
Ferrari and its drivers backed Vasseur after weeks of speculation, as Lewis Hamilton said the team has 2nd place in the constructors' standings.
On Friday, Ferrari Formula 1 team principal Fred Vasseur addressed media speculation at an FIA press conference in Sepang, with drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc publicly backing him as the right leader.
Vasseur's position faced scrutiny over the past month following reports last week linking former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to his role, though Ferrari confirmed 'full confidence' in him amid the title drought.
Williams boss James Vowles offered unexpected support, stating Ferrari is in the 'best place it's been in the championship for a while,' while Hamilton urged critics to 'point fingers somewhere else.'
Calling for 'serenity' and unity, Vasseur warned that finger-pointing would be a 'huge mistake' and emphasized Ferrari wins and suffers as a team, not as individuals.
The team focuses on finishing the season while advancing 2027 car and power unit projects, as Vasseur hopes relative calm returns to Maranello to allow staff to concentrate on technical development.
Ferrari's top and drivers Hamilton and Leclerc stood behind Ferrari team leader Fred Vasseur in the last few days. The Frenchman explained: "It was essential to do something."
