Long-time Varėna District Mayor Algis Kašėta announced on Thursday evening that he will not run in the upcoming Varėna District mayoral election. He also indicated who he would like to see as his successor.
"I will not participate in the upcoming Varėna mayoral elections. I view my work in the municipality as a meaningful and successful stage of my life. Together with the team and the people of the Varėna region, we have accomplished a lot of important work," A. Kašėta wrote on his Facebook account on Thursday.
