USA seems to bring recognition of annexed Crimea into play

A peace between Ukraine and Russia currently seems to be far away. Nevertheless, the US is making pressure – and demanding concessions from Ukraine.

The West has so far categorically rejected recognition of the Crimea occupied by Russia, but now the US seems to be shaking the principle – and demanding Ukraine to act on it.

The United States has been pressing Ukraine to respond this week to a series of proposals by President Donald Trump's administration on how to end the Russian war. The documents include concessions to Russia, including possible recognition of Russia's illegal 2014 annexation of Crimea by the United States and the exclusion of Ukraine from NATO membership, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed Western officials.
