- The Justice Department estimates scam-center schemes cost the public about $10 billion annually, with cryptocurrency investment-fraud losses rising 89% from $4.57 billion in 2023 to $8.65 billion in 2025.
- Cooperation will involve parallel investigations between the United States and the United Kingdom, including a planned in-person 'disruption event' in London in early October to target digital and financial infrastructure.
- Officials have already identified overlapping cases and will jointly determine which nation should lead prosecutions, aiming to disable Chinese TOC networks that utilize human-trafficked labor to increase profits.
- FBI Director Kash Patel's broader campaign previously produced at least 276 arrests in an April operation with the United Arab Emirates, China, and Thailand, building on a March executive order from Trump.
