"We have been working on the deadline of 9 July, but it seems that the United States has now reached this deadline by 1 August. This gives us a little more time, but on our part, we continue to concentrate," said the European Economic Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis.
The European Commission (EC) has insisted that there are "advances" in the negotiations at technical and political level to achieve a "principle of agreement" before the end of the tariff truce with the United States, on Wednesday, July 9, thus avoiding assessing the new August 1 deadline that Washington has suggested as a date for new surcharges for countries with which it has not concluded agreements by then.
