UNITED STATES, JUN 17 – More than half of Americans now get news from social media and video platforms, surpassing TV, with 7% using AI chatbots, especially popular among younger audiences, Reuters Institute reports.
- Social media and video networks have become the main source of news for more than half of people in the U.S., surpassing traditional TV channels and news websites , according to the Reuters Institute.
- In the week following the January 2025 U.S. presidential inauguration, more Americans reported getting news from social networks than from TV, marking a historic shift, according to the report.
