US, Japan, Australia, India to have 'Quad' top diplomats' meeting in Delhi, Japan says
The ministers will review Indo-Pacific security, technology and climate initiatives as India seeks to broaden energy cooperation with the United States.
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, India will host the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi, featuring US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will lead the talks, which aim to advance Quad cooperation across priority areas and review ongoing initiatives to strengthen regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.
Secretary Rubio will travel to India from May 23-26, visiting Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi. He stated the trip is vital for strengthening the strategic partnership, particularly regarding expanded energy cooperation.
Visiting ministers are expected to hold bilateral meetings with Jaishankar and call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Discussions will also address major global challenges, including recent developments in Ukraine and West Asia.
The New Delhi meeting establishes the agenda for a Quad leaders' summit hosted by India later this year. It builds on the framework from their July 1, 2025, gathering in Washington, D.C., marking Rubio's first official visit to India.
