Trump Threatens Fresh Iran Strikes After Declaring Ceasefire ‘Over’
Trump said negotiations can continue even as US Central Command launched additional strikes to deter attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
On Wednesday, as Donald Trump returned from Ankara, US Central Command forces launched additional strikes against Iran to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, declaring the interim ceasefire over.
Renewed hostilities broke out Tuesday after Iranian forces targeted three tankers in the vital Strait of Hormuz, an exchange threatening to disrupt shipping in the Gulf and complicate conflict resolution launched by The United States and Israel.
The United States hit more than 80 targets while Iranian forces retaliated by attacking American military sites; Trump posted on Truth Social, "We hit them very hard last night," warning of worse consequences.
Speaking at a Nato summit in Turkey, Trump branded the Tehran regime "scum" and "dishonourable," while Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated, "The era of bullying and extortion is over."
The initial deal for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz only secured 60 days of toll-free transit, and Sir Keir Starmer warned that escalation could drive up household bills.
It happens after Donald Trump confirmed that the ceasefire with Tehran is over.The White House said the new onslaught is to further weaken the regime's ability to threaten freedom of navigation across the Strait of Hormuz.Chabahar was one of the cities that received the impacts.
