The US Embassy in Moscow urged U.S. citizens in Russia to leave the country immediately, as a result of information on a possible case of lung plague. Diplomats pointed out that they were following the situation in the Irkutsk region, where approximately 200 people were hospitalized and several quarantined hospitals were closed after the death of Daria Epilova, a 27-year-old employee of the pest control institute.
The United States is aware of the death of a woman from a possible plague in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, is closely monitoring the situation and urging its citizens to leave Russia immediately, the US Embassy in Russia said on its website.
