- This wave of charges followed enhanced border and interior enforcement targeting illegal entry, reentry, drug trafficking, and individuals with serious criminal histories.
- Across several states, charges were filed against nearly 600 individuals in Texas, with Arizona accounting for 329 cases, California 169, and New Mexico 133. Many of those charged had been previously deported and possessed felony convictions.
- One indictment in San Diego charged 16 individuals for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl over a 16-month investigation involving 115 law enforcement officials using wiretaps and undercover agents.
- Those convicted of illegal reentry face sentences from two up to 20 years, especially if previously deported felons with narcotics, firearms, or sexual offense convictions are involved.
