Unreleased Queen track 'no one has ever heard' to be aired
Brian May will premiere a rare 1974 Queen track on his Planet Rock Christmas special ahead of the Queen II album rerelease in 2026, with Queen named top 21st-century UK rock act.
- On Monday December 22, Sir Brian May will debut Not For Sale on Planet Rock at 6pm, with a repeat on Christmas Day at 1pm.
- Recorded during the 1974 Queen II sessions, the track failed to make the final cut and May said its remastered version will feature on the 2026 rerelease rebuild coming next year.
- Sir Brian May said, `It’s a song that goes back a very long way, but to my knowledge no one has ever heard this version`, and noted a 'bootleg' by Smile may have circulated.
- The radio special will include a hand-picked selection of Sir Brian May’s favourite Christmas and seasonal tracks, featuring classics by Slade, Chuck Berry, The Crystals, and a festive song by Anita Dobson, May’s wife.
- Earlier this year Queen were named the most played rock act on UK radio and TV in the 21st century by Phonographic Performance Limited , and the band has six UK number one singles and 10 UK number one albums.
