United Airlines Is Adding Even More Luxe, Lie-Back Seats to Its New Planes
- United announced it will take delivery of over 250 aircraft by April 2028, introducing new premium Airbus A321 Coastliner and Airbus A321XLR models to modernize its fleet.
- To provide "a consistent level of service" across its network, the airline will replace 40 older Boeing jets, United chief commercial officer Andrew Nocella said.
- Both aircraft will feature 20 Polaris business-class suites, 12 Premium Plus recliners, and 129 economy seats, with upgraded amenities launching on transcontinental and transatlantic routes this summer.
- Separately, United will introduce the CRJ-450 regional jet with 41 seats, replacing older CRJ-200s to connect smaller cities to Chicago and Denver hubs before year-end 2026.
- United aims to "shake up the industry" with these fleet-wide upgrades, leveraging massive order volume to accelerate premium experiences across domestic and long-haul markets.
