- On Sunday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament, pegged at Rs 53.5 lakh crore with a fiscal deficit of 4%.

- To support MSMEs, the proposal includes a Rs 10,000 crore fund for champion SMEs and a Rs 4,000 crore top-up to the Self Reliance India Fund in FY27, along with one girls' hostel in every district.
- Taxpayer-Friendly reforms allow corrections for a nominal fee, extending revised income-tax returns deadline to March 31 while retaining July 31 for ITR-1 and ITR-2 and August 31 for non-audit business cases and trusts.
